The NFPT recognizes a number of different continuing education providers which are not listed above specifically. The minimum continuing education provider qualifications for acceptance include:
Education Component:
The program's educational content must be conducive to the advancement of Personal Trainer knowledge, skills, and abilities. The NFPT recognizes that many content specific areas can be included in this category as there exists a large variety of health/fitness related subject matter. The NFPT has compiled the below list as being some of the more familiar program content areas, this is not an all-encompassing list:

If the content area of a continuing education course that you have taken is not on this list, please provide documentation referencing the course content along with verification of completion. This information will be reviewed by a pier group of NFPT subject matter experts who will determine the course's content matter as acceptable for NFPT continuing education credit.
Course Preparation/Completion Time:
The minimum acceptable standard for any continuing education course regarding the length of time for completion is 2 hours. Any course taken, whether on-site or correspondence, must have associated with it a 2 hour time frame that may consist of preparation time, completion/assessment time, or both. The continuing education program under review must publish an approximate time frame that is equal to or exceeds 2 hours or provide the NFPT with documentation that states such.
Course Coordinator/Presenter:
The continuing education course must have coordinator(s) and/or presenter(s) that possess sufficient knowledge of the content area in which they teach. Formal education (minimum of bachelor's degree) related to the course subject matter is a requirement of approved CEC course.
