NCCA required an independent exam validation process. Our NFPT Board chose Schroeder Measurement Technologies (SMT), to validate and control our NFPT-CPT assessment. The survey of a broad sampling of practicing fitness professionals was performed in order to determine what questions needed to be in the examination and the number of questions to be asked on different subject matter. In reality personal training candidates need to possess some basic knowledge, skills, and abilities from fitness experience and/or past related education beyond what can be learned from any one education resource. NCCA also demanded we put in place and prove enforcement of policies on cheating, proper test environment, a supervised examination delivery, third party "grading", and absolutely NO "teaching to the test". NCCA is the existing standard and it IS recognized inside & outside our industry. NFPT has earned its place along-side the elite organizations who have proven through voluntary action their desire to better serve and protect the candidate, the public, and raise the bar in the personal training industry.
